Why?

Max can answer 'what, who and where' questions? He will also incidentally ask them. Now I am trying to teach him how to answer 'why' questions, a lot harder. But it will really help expand his thinking.

'No school tomorrow' he says.

Why?

'Because it's snowing outside.'

'I want to play with the soap.'

Why

'Because I like playing with it.'

I am also trying to enhance his independence by letting him think for himself more. We'll walk to the door ready to go, but I do not put on his shoes and coat and wait until he notices and asks for them.

I'll get him yoghurt but leave it closed and without a spoon and I'll wait until he asks me to open it and asks for a spoon or gets one himself.

Just some things we're working on.

Netflix

It's a snow day, no school, and I need to take a shower, so I let Max pick out something to watch on netflix while I do so. Hundreds of children's shows and what does he pick?

The Killing.....ehm no, pick something else

Family Guy! Not quite a children's program, but I guess technically it's a cartoon. Oke..

Music

Max has picked a new favorite, "Ed Sheeran, or the arms (aaaahaaahaaarms) song" as he calls it. He's a sentimental little guy..

Thinking out Loud

Got him the cd for his birthday, he already has Sam Smith :-). I like his taste in music. No 'wheels on the bus' for him anymore ;-).

I miss my blog

I was just re reading my blog and I realized I missed it and that I really write this blog for myself (and the pictures are for Max). I want to remember everything, I don't want to forget what it was like when Max was 2 or 3 or 6, etc.

Max's receptive language (understanding of spoken language) is much better and so we are able to read books with more words and a longer story line. This is the one we are into now, and of course after reading it about five times Max knows it word for word (his memory skills are superb!). Great book!
