We like you too
I walked up to the car, Max was already sitting in it and I waved at him through the window. He got a big smile on his face and waved back. When I got in he said: "I do like mommy,.....and daddy."
Learning to express his likes and dislikes!

Be careful what you teach
Max and I worked on saying 'I don't know.' I picked out various items that he is familiar with and one item that he doesn't know. I then asked: 'What's this?,' holding one of them up. He answered all correctly and when we got to the unknown item I taught him to answer: 'I don't know." We did this a couple of times and eventually he got it.
The goal is then for this new skill to generalize: for him to start saying 'I don't know' on his own in other situations.
Well, he did.
The next day or so, it was time for a lesson. He hates lessons, but we usually manage to do a short one.
I started the lesson and when it was his turn to give me the answer, guess what he said?: 'I don't know!' and then continued to repeat that same answer to every question I asked. Big smile on his face. He got me, I knew he knew the answers, but he used his new skill against me!!

Prayers
Someone told me recently they would pray for Max. I appreciate that, but I asked her not to pray for just Max, but to also pray for a society where differences in development and character are more accepted and appreciated. Max can only do so much. Got to meet half way right?

To be loved
Yesterday Maxwell had a performance with his school. 4 classes were going to sing 3 songs for all the parents. When I entered the room everybody looked at me and I heard Maxwell crying. He had seen a little friends mommy come in and got so upset I wasn't there (yet). He was crying really loud and saying: "My mommy's not here :-(."
So when I walked in one of the teachers summoned me to come and jokingly said: "Well, now we all know who Max's mom is." Max had stopped crying and was just so happy to see me. I hope I will never forget the look on his face: "My mommy is here!" He gave me a big hug and a kiss and could not stop staring at me. I felt so incredibly loved...
For your child to be so happy to see you, so easily comforted by your presence, it made me feel like a million dollars. All was good again in Max's world and I felt like the most beloved person in the room.
I really really really really love you to buddy!
